Why you need to visit Wineglass Bay

Wineglass bay is amongst one of the top ten beaches in the world. Located along the pristine coastline of Tasmania, it boasts pure white beaches against a perfect backdrop of the sapphire blue Tasman Sea and soaring pink granite mountains.

There are a variety of walks available around Freycinet National Park with lengths and difficulty suitable for most tastes. One of our faves is the Wineglass Bay Walk. This 2 hour walk will take you up a short, steep track to a lookout that will take your breath away. Set between two mountains, Amos and Mayson you will be able to gaze across the whole of Wineglass Bay from this vantage point.

Adventure at Wineglass Bay

If you prefer to get the heart racing there are more adventurous activities like quad biking, mountain biking and rock climbing also available.

All4adventure do tours ranging from half day to two hours and let you have the option of riding ATV’s yourself or if you're a little nervous being a passenger.

If two wheels is more you're thing, there are some stunning bike tracks in the region. Although some of the trails requiring some climbing the views are worth all the hard work. Click here to discover some or head to the National Park Information Centre.

The area is also well know for its climbs. We can only imagine how amazing some of the scenes would be! For more info head here.

A day out on the water

It would be hard to look at the shimmering blue waters of the Wineglass bay region and not want to get out there. There are so many options for enjoying the cool Tasman sea. Of course you can go take a dip straight off the pure white sandy beach. Make sure you stay and soak in the relaxing vibes for as long as you can.

Alternatively you can get out on the water and feel that sea breeze through your hair.

If you head out on a sea kayak with Freycinet Adventures you can choose from half day tours to epic 4 day adventures where you discover secret locations, and camp while watching magnificent sunsets.

If you prefer a bit of pampering out at sea, there is the beautiful Wineglass Bay Cruises. Picture savouring mouthwatering local produce while soaking in jaw-dropping scenery onboard the Schouten Passage II.

Become wildlife warriors by helping to spot local wildlife. The data you help collect will be sent to Tasmanian Nature Conservation Branch to help wth their monitoring of birdlife and marine mammals in the area.  Regulars for the cruise are Fur seals, dolphins, Little Penguins and Wedge Tail Eagles. In summer you may be lucky enough to spot the awe-inspiring Blue Whale or in autumn the Bioluminescence Phosphorescence that floats pink on the tides.

Local Produce at its best

Tasmania is well know for its sumptuous local produce.  Places like Providore provide free tastings and we can guarantee you will be loading up your shopping baskets afterwards. And with the views in the area, what could be more perfect than a gorgeous seasonal picnic.

There are also a variety of restaurants and eating establishments available at Freycinet Lodge. Where you can enjoy a local Tasmanian wine to wash down seafood caught in the area.

Imagine seasonal fruits, homemade chocolates, oysters, scallops and award-winning cheeses. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

We hope that this has made you want to visit this stunning area…we are already looking for flights!
