Why Palm Cove is our number one place to visit once borders reopen

Why Palm Cove is our number one place to visit once borders reopen….

The team here at island co. have been in deep discussions over which is our number one go-to tropical destination right here in Australia. Palm Cove came out a clear winner and here’s why….

With its warm tropical climate and year-round holiday vibes, this is the top spot destination on our hit list once Australia’s borders open up to tourism again.

Palm Cove is a gorgeous little tourist village situated just 25 minutes north of Cairns airport in Tropical North Queensland.

The town consists of a main stretch called Williams Esplanade that runs the full length of the beach with restaurants, shops and accommodation right across the road overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Coral Sea.

The town is just sleepy enough to feel as though you’ve well and truly escaped the hustle and bustle of the city but vibrant enough to feel you’re on a well deserved tropical beach break.

The restaurants are plentiful and you'll be hard-pressed conquering them all in a week. The quality and service is of a high standard and compares to anything you’d find in any other major resort town. Be sure to check out the following…

Vivo Palm Cove – Set in a gorgeous Queenslander overlooking the sea this restaurant is perfect for a relaxed afternoon of cocktails out on the veranda followed by a sumptuous dinner. They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the modern, well thought out diverse menu will have you wanting to go back more than once.

Try to book in a Sunday lunch when they often have live music to really set the tropical holiday vibe.

Stay at Pepper’s Beach Club and Spa, the location can’t be beat right in the centre of town and within easy access to all Palm Cove has to offer. They have a range of room options to suit couples and families including swim out pool access suites. The main lagoon-style pool with a sandy beach and swim-up bar is the perfect spot to relax throughout the day and have a cocktail or two or if you want a more relaxed swim try the serenity rock pool and fountain. The breakfast buffet out on the deck overlooking the sea is the perfect way to start your days.

Spend a day exploring the stunning Great Barrier Reef on a small charter boat including snorkelling on the Outer Reef with gourmet seafood lunch. Visit the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest and remote Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the sea. Here you can do some great rainforest canopy boardwalk trails, wildlife watching and even some ziplining if you dare. Take the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to the quaint Kuranda Village, spend the day exploring the artisan shops and then take the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway back down. All this and so much more is on offer in the area.
