Makeup to Help You Look Hot—Not Hot and Sweaty

beach lipstickMakeup is a huge help in many aspects of our lives. Need a pick-me-up? Grab some fabulous lipstick and watch how you shine. Have a face full of breakouts? Watch how makeup can magically cover them up and renew your self-confidence. It’s not just about looking better, but also feeling better.

And let’s face it: Looking hot and sweaty with your makeup melting off is typically not the look you’re going after on a beautiful sunny day by the beach.

Believe it or not, there are things you can do to help you stay looking like the goddess that you are instead of a hot mess. Ready for the techniques to help achieve this goal? Read on…

Don't Over Do It

You might think you want to load on all the makeup you can for fear that the sun will make it run off and evaporate into thin air anyway. That’s not the case. Actually, it’s the opposite.

If a dewey look is what you’re after, think light. Heavy will create an appearance opposite of what you’re trying to achieve. If you feel you need something on your face to even out skin tone, try something sheer. That way, you’ll be covered (so to speak), yet not covered.girl in sunglasses

Another option is to use tinted moisturizer with SPF. You get the benefit of adding a little ‘natural’ color to your face without adding actual makeup. Plus, you get some sun protection so those pesky dark spots to show up.

Have Your Lips Make a Statement

The funny thing about your lips is that they can be alluring without having a ‘look at me’ kind of shade on them. Subtlety can go a long way in the hot, steaming weather. If you put something heavy and dark on, what happens? The lipstick starts bleeding. Even with lip liner it can be difficult to keep it in place. Humidity just does that to makeup.

Instead, try a fun gloss that glimmers in the sunlight. A light, shimmering color that brings out your healthy glow can look help you look even more breathtaking.

Should You Go Waterproof?

If you really want your eyes to pop, mascara may be what you need. However, it can also be one of the messiest applications that you can wear! We’ve all seen it—or have been the victims of it ourselves. Yes, raccoon eyes! That unpleasant situation where the mascara ends up more under our eyes than actually on our eyelashes where it belongs.

The problem is that some women have issues with waterproof mascara. There are certain ingredients in there that make it magically waterproof that can irritate your eyes, so girl with mascarayou may have to figure out which one works best for you. If you have too many problems, you might be better off with one these non-toxic mascaras.

Of course, you have to take care of your skin while you’re enjoying some sun time. Don’t forget to protect it so you can stay looking gorgeous. Check out EWG’s consumer guides to choose one that is non-toxic.

Makeup that looks great—and makes you look great—in a humid environment is not an impossibility. Just choose carefully and you’ll give off as much heat as the sun.
